In November 2023, NARUC released a Grid Data Sharing Framework and Playbook, following a collaborative process in partnership with the U.S. Department of Energy, utilities, DER advocates, cybersecurity experts, and commissions.
Now, with DOE support, NARUC will assist up to four utility commissions in applying the Grid Data Sharing Framework to their own state-specific processes.

This hands-on technical assistance will be available in spring 2024 through spring 2025. Expressions of interest are due by April 15, 2024.
For this initiative, the definition of grid data includes data related to the electric system, up to and including data generated by the electric meter.
Grid data does not include personally identifiable data, demographic information, program participation information, or other data that can be used to identify an individual customer.
