Commissioning a Next-Generation Workforce

April 17, 2024 - 2 PM ET

Energy workforce challenges are well-documented, with the prospect of 40 percent of the current workforce facing retirement in the next five years and declining interest in energy-sector jobs. The resulting bottleneck will put a strain on the utility workforce. This panel will hear from PUC staff in Michigan, Illinois, and California on different approaches to workforce diversity and workforce development. Additionally, we will hear from a veteran-owned business on workforce development and supplier diversity and an innovative utility approach from Xcel Energy.

  • Bridget Dockter, Manager of Policy and Outreach at Xcel Energy
  • Charles Wilson, Managing Partner, CW Consulting Group, LLC
  • Jeanine Robinson, Director of Diversity and Community Affairs, Illinois Commerce Commission
  • Rachel Peterson, Executive Director, California Public Utilities Commission
