Regulatory Development
NARUC broadly supports regulators as they work to improve the quality and effectiveness of their regulatory frameworks and interactions with consumers, utilities and other stakeholders. We deploy our expert volunteers to help regulators improve their processes, align with regional or international guidelines, and create an enabling environment for investment.
- In Mexico, NARUC is collaborating with regulators and other government officials to help the country work through its landmark energy sector reform, which aims to expand opportunities for investment and enable private generation resources to connect to the grid.
- In Jordan, NARUC worked with regulators to develop technical performance indicators for distribution, transmission and generation utilities as part of the licenses the Jordanian regulator granted to utilities.
- In Bosnia and Herzegovina, NARUC worked with regulators to help accurately predict consumer demand based on realistic assumptions and European Union guidelines to ensure that a sufficient supply was generated.
